Objective
The Philadelphia Auto Show is one of the largest and well known consumer events in North America. With record breaking online pre-sales for the 2008 show, a flexible, mobile and efficient scan solution would be needed to maintain the little to no wait times their customers were familiar with. The technology would also need to accurately relay scan data and purchase data in real time during their 10-day event.

Solution

INTERACTIVE TICKETING provided their ground breaking wireless solution that combines hand-held barcode scanning technology with the freedom of a wireless network. This technology utilizes a cellular-based wireless broadband router that communicates with the INTERACTIVE TICKETING server to exchange real-time validation and tracking data. By setting up multiple router “hotspots” around the facility, the scanning devices could essentially be used at any gate location depending on attendee traffic.

Because the technology is portable (a wireless barcode reader fits in the palm of your hand), the Philly Auto Show was able to deploy extra units to gates that were experiencing higher traffic volumes, ensuring fast and accurate onsite ticket validation.

The Result
The Philadelphia Auto Show was able to easily deploy additional scanners to the gates that were experiencing heavier traffic. By going wireless they were also able to maintain an internet connection and receive valuable reporting in real-time. Because the Wireless scanning devices are compact, they could be moved around the facility as needed without any setup hassles.
