2009 Scan Software & Hardware Review

INTERACTIVE TICKETING offers two innovative methods for validating online tickets using our “Ticket Station” scanning software. In this newsletter we will describe our PDA/Wireless and USB/Desktop solutions and overview how to get the latest version of the “Ticket Station” software. Many of you may already be familiar with one or both of the methods we support; however, you may find something new as both methods are continually updated to ensure the best possible solution is available. I also recommend accessing the Ticket Manager periodically and selecting “Scan Software” from the navigation to see if any updates are available.
Wireless Handheld PDA Using a Wi-Fi Connection or Broadband Router Our wireless scanning option is an excellent solution for scanning tickets at remote locations where an internet connection can be difficult to obtain. Through extensive research and development, this solution has been well received by some of the largest fairs and consumer shows in the nation. Our “Ticket Station” software has been enhanced to run on Motorola handheld PDA devices and can connect to a local Wi-Fi signal or a broadband router if a Wi-Fi connection is not available. A broadband router connects using cellular technology via a Sprint or Verizon card and broadcasts an internet signal onsite up to a 150’ radius. These units are available for rent or purchase depending on your needs.

- Easy to Setup/Update- Installation takes about 15 minutes. Software updates can be easily downloaded onto your PDA by simply accessing Internet Explorer via the PDA unit or by inserting a Scan Disk Card that contains the software update.
- Rentals Available- Investing in a PDA Unit and broadband router can be expensive and is why we offer affordable rental options. Desktop Application using a USB Scanner Our desktop application continually receives updates and has proven to be one of the most affordable and reliable scanning solutions. A desktop setup requires a laptop or desktop computer running windows 2000 (or greater), a USB scanner and an internet connection (optional.) When an internet connection is available, scanned tickets can be monitored in real-time by logging into the “Ticket Manager.” If an internet connection is not available then data will be stored locally on your laptop and can be synchronized when a connection becomes available.

- Affordable- A Linear Imager USB Scanner can be purchased for close to $180.
- Easy to Setup/Update- Installation takes about 10 minutes. Software updates can be easily downloaded onto your designated scanning laptop or desktop computer directly from our “Ticket Manager” website.
- Streamline Onsite Support- To provide excellent onsite support you can operate both the “Ticket Manager” and “Ticket Station” on the same support desk computer. By using the “Ticket Manager,” you can look up a customer’s order and use the desktop version of the “Ticket Station” to manually insert the barcode number into the scan software. This can efficiently resolve issues where a customer forgets their tickets or the barcode is difficult to scan.

Downloading/Updating your Software Downloading and updating your scan software should be a breeze. If you own a PDA wireless unit, you can download the newest version of the “Ticket Station” by opening Internet Explorer from the start bar which will prompt the download of the latest software package from a bookmarked link. Wireless PDA users may also simply request a SD Card (Scan DiskCard) card be sent to them from our support team. Once you have received the SD Card with our software update, you simply insert it into the SD slot on the unit and the update will happen automatically. Also note, if you rent PDA hardware from us, all current software updates will have been completed prior to shipping.
Clients who use our USB/Desktop solution should regularly check the ticket manager for the latest version of the “Ticket Station” software. To do this simply log into the ticket manager and mouse over “Software & Docs”then select “Scan Software.” From here you can click the “Ticket Station” link to update your existing software with the newest version.
